5 reasons why we like Omnisend with WooCommerce

As you can tell from the posts and pages on this website website, I am an avid user of ActiveCampaign. I have supported many clients who use ActiveCampaign and I have encouraged people to purchase their product but their form builder and their abandoned cart integration with WordPress stinks.

Omnisend is an all-in-one e-commerce marketing platform that helps online retailers automate and personalize their marketing campaigns. It provides a suite of tools for email marketing, SMS marketing, and more, with integrations to popular e-commerce platforms like Shopify, Magento, and WooCommerce. Omnisend’s goal is to help online businesses increase sales and engagement with their customers through personalized and automated marketing campaigns.

There has been rumbling among my clients that feel that ActiveCampaign has gotten too expensive and they are looking for less expensive alternatives. For many people, ActiveCampaign is overkill. If you are not integrating your WordPress site with other platforms like ClickFunnels, Memberium, LearnDash and sell simple physical or virtual products via WooCommerce and want to grow your customer mailing list, Omnisend is a perfectly good solution.

1. Installation of WordPress Plugin

More times than not when I have installed the plugin ActiveCampaign for WooCommerce for a client I’ve had to then open a Support chat to get the plugin working. To ensure that the communications between the client’s server and ActiveCampaign are working. It is very frustrating.

Recently, ActiveCampaign added a couple of new features/tools to their WordPress plugin so you can do some of this yourself but I am not sure that the average WordPress site owner is confident enough to toy around with it.

On the other hand, installing Omnisend’s plugin is a breeze and it works upon installation – no need to contact support to fix any issues.

2. Links in the abandoned product block

Omnisend's Approach

Omnisend saves the contents of the customer’s cart and when you click on the link “Complete your order”, you are taken to the cart page with the items already in the cart. This approach makes it easy for the customer to complete the purchase.

The product image and the “Shop now” button is linked to the product page. If the customer clicks on either, they are redirected  to the product page to review the item’s description and product other details.

ActiveCampaign's Approach

ActiveCampaign saves the product details to the CRM and displays those details in the email but the links are not as robust as Omnisend.

If the customer clicks on the product image or the “Return to checkout” button, they will be redirected their cart page. If the customer has not cleared their cache, they will see the cart as they left it on their last visit, otherwise, they will see an empty cart.

If the customer opens the email with a different browser than they originally used to add the items to the cart, the cart page will be empty.

3. Product listing block for emails

This is a super nice feature. Drag the block into your email. The connection is already made to your store and you just need to select the products you want to highlight in your email.

There is no going back and forth between browser tabs to get the product name and/or description correct. All the information you need is right there, just select the products you want included and voila!

It truly could not be easier!

4. Unique coupon codes

Omnisend is so tightly integrated with your WooCommerce store that you can add in a discount block into your emails. Omnisend will create a unique coupon code in WooCommerce and send it to the customer.

In the discount block, you can set the discount as a dollar amount or percentage and the number of days before the code expires.

The only way to do this using ActiveCampaign is via custom code.

5. Product recommender block for emails

Omnisend polls your website to check for new additions and best selling items. It then uses that data when you incorporate the Product recommender block in your emails.

Regardless, if the block is in a campaign or an automation, the products recommended to the contact will reflect the most recent sales data from your site.

Omnisend concentrated on the cutomer journey

Omnisend has put their efforts into creating an application that will help the small business owner using WordPress or Shopify to grow their market share. They provided integrations in their software with the popular eCommerce platforms so that business owners do not need to hire a team to accomplish their goals. They can do it themselves.

The automation flows are created using text and fill in the blanks to make it easier to build out an automation with clear exits when an event takes place.

All transactional emails such as Order Confirmation and Shipping Announcements can all be sent from Omnisend. These emails can be customized to keep all you email communications with a  consistent look and feel.
